Measles:
In the U.S. there is currently a measles outbreak that has made its way to Michigan, with a case reported from Oakland County. Following Spring Break this may increase your risk of measles due to possible exposure during travel. Unvaccinated people are at greater risk of contracting this disease than vaccinated people, although in very rare cases, vaccinated people can contract the disease.
Measles is spread by direct person to person contact and through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
If you think you were exposed to measles monitor for symptoms for 21 days after potential exposure date. If symptoms develop, call your healthcare provider.
Measles symptoms usually appear seven to 14 days after contact with the virus and typically include high fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes, according to the CDC. Measles rash appears three to five days after the onset of the first symptoms.
Symptoms of measles include:
Koplik spots - tiny white spots that may appear inside the mouth two to three days after symptoms begin
High fever - 104℉ and above
Cough
Runny nose and sneezing
Red, watery eyes
Loss of appetite, diarrhea
Reddish-brown rash that can spread across the entire body
Small raised bumps may also appear on top of the flat red spots (the spots may become joined together as they spread from the head to the rest of the body)

The KES library has a brand new rotating tabletop book stand thanks to the efforts of many people. Thanks to the awesome grant writing of School Board Secretary, Alisha Proctor, in addition to funds from the Tuscola County Community Foundation, elementary students can easily locate new paperback books and graphic novels. Students love being able to rotate the stand while they search for their next great book adventure. Thank you, Alisha and TCCF for helping us add this beautiful piece to our elementary library!

KES rewarded its students for their great behavior in the 3rd marking period with a bowling trip! Our students had a blast! Thank you to all our staff who made this trip possible, and to Brentwood for hosting us!
